My daughter (12) was excited to participate in reading the book Vet Set Go by Christopher Carpenter. She loved the illustrations, how-to style, and stats on becoming a vet.
A few weeks before the book arrived, my daughter told me she wanted to become a vet as a professional. When I saw the opportunity to get a copy of the book, I jumped on it!
She was excited to find out that there were steps she could implement now even at a young age to learn more about becoming a veterinarian. For example, she learned there are vet and zoo camps to attend to help her understand animals and their habitats. In addition, she can foster animals and pet sit for family and friends. In a couple of years, she will be old enough to "shadow" a professional veterinarian and volunteer at clinics.
The possibilities are endless and she is anxious to get started. We both would highly recommend this book. It's engaging, inspiring, and informative if your child aspires to be a veterinarian.
